Senior Management Delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) headed by Nandita Parshad, Managing Director, Sustainable Infrastructure Group, with Charlotte Ruhe, Managing Director, Central and South Eastern Europe, Susan Goeransson, Director, Head of Infrastructure Europe Team, Matteo Colangeli, Director, Regional Head of Western Balkans, Guillaume Le Bris, Associate Director and Jelena Čeperković, Associate Director, visited the New Vinca Resource Recovery Center which is being implemented under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with the City of Belgrade.
EBRD is one of important partners as a project finance loan lender for this most complex project in the region amounts to EUR 370 million. EBRD is contributing a 128.25 million syndicated loan.
Senior Management of EBRD visited newly opened sanitary landfills, Construction Demolition Recycling Facility and other facilities in operation. Also, they confirmed at the progress of Energy from Waste Facility and the situation of Old Landfill. The senior management was impressed by the successful commencement of Service and progress of the project under this challenging situation and expect to see another achievement of key milestone soon.
Belgrade Waste Management PPP Project as a flagship environmental project is moving forward to the next phase to provide whole modern waste management system in the City of Belgrade for contributing to effort for circular economy. The New Vinca Resource Recovery Center will enable emission reduction of 250,000 tons equivalent of carbon dioxide per year, production of clean energy, treatment of leachate and landfill gas and closure of the old non-sanitary landfill which is posing environmental and health risk.
