Last week, we had the honor of welcoming a distinguished delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to the Vinča Resource Recovery Center. JICA delegation was headed by Mr. Kentaro Yokota, Deputy Director General, Middle East & Europe Division (JICA Tokyo) and included the representatives from JICA Belgrade Office: Mr. Hajime Fukuda, Chief Representative, Mr. Chigiru Yamashita, Senior Representative, Ms. Yumiko Saito, Project Formulation Adviser, Mr. Shinya Takahashi, Project Formulation Adviser.
During the visit, Mr. Katsuhiko Hoshikawa, Managing Director of Beo Čista Energija, highlighted that the Belgrade Waste Management PPP Project is the project of Serbian-Japanese-French cooperation, the first of its kind in Serbia. The project modernizes waste management in Belgrade, sets new standards for environmental protection, and demonstrates the power of international partnership.
We are particularly proud that JICA representatives expressed appreciation for the project’s tangible environmental benefits and its potential to serve as a regional benchmark for waste management solutions.
