Beo Čista Energija and Suez Vinča Operator welcomed at the Resource Recovery Center representatives of European Centre for Workers’ Questions headed by Mr. Joseph Thouvenel.
European Centre for Workers’ Questions representatives visited the Republic of Serbia on the occasion of educational seminar organized by the European Centre for Workers’ Questions in Belgrade about human trafficking.
Philippe Thiel, Managing Director of Beo Čista Energija, welcomed the visitors and said that Beo Čista Energija is implementing one of the largest French-Japanese investments in Serbia.
Visitors were introduced to the PPP project, its goals and the way in which the old landfill area will be transformed into green space through modern waste management and its remediation. Experts from Suez Vinča Operator, in charge of operations at the landfill, described the policies applied to employees, their development and training. More than 500 persons are employed for the construction of the facilities, and 120 direct permanent jobs are created by this landmark project.
Visitors toured the newly built sanitary landfill, the construction waste recycling facility, the leachate treatment plant, which is in the commissioning phase, the construction site of the energy-from-waste plant and could assess the environmental and social positive impacts of the PPP Project by stopping pollution of the old landfill in the air and in Danube river and by creating more than 120 qualified permanent jobs.
