At the initiative of children’s writers and authors gathered around Bookland, company Beo Čista Energija, which manages the Vinča Resource Recovery Center, donated 50 books to the library of the Karadjordje elementary school in Ostružnica, one of the oldest Serbian school.
Children’s writers, such as Ljubivoje Ršumović, Pero Zubac, Gradimir Stojković, Mošo Odalović, Vesna Aleksić, Slobodan Stanišić, Milutin Đuričković, Boško Lomović, together with the Institute for Children’s Literature, launched an action to encourage reading habits in children and the youth, and develop good reading taste. The action involves visiting as many elementary schools as possible in Serbia and spending time with children through which they will present the importance of books and reading in their spiritual development.
“We are very happy to support this action in order to develop habits of kids, which fosters their ability of thinking. We expect that children will learn lots of important things with books to be able to consider the issues in the society for better future as well as the environmental and energy issue we are addressing. It is challenge to keep reading culture alive in the digital world, and the intention of Beo Čista Energija is to support activities aimed at enhancing the education of children in Belgrade,” said Mitsuaki Harada, managing director of Beo Čista Energija.
The books that were donated to one of the oldest elementary schools in Serbia were carefully selected by the Bookland publishing house with the aim of shaping children’s curiosity, knowledge and spirit.
