Miroslav Čučković, City Manager and Nenad Milanović, Belgrade Mayor’s Chief of Staff visited the Vinča Resource Recovery Center in company with Ivana Vilotijević, City Secretary for Environmental Protection and Aleksandar Ćirić from the Secretariat of Environmental Protection.
The Managing Directors of Beo Čista Energija Vladimir Milovanović and Philippe Thiel presented the guests the activities on municipal and construction waste management on the new sanitary landfill, and the progress of construction of new landfill cells. The guests also visited the Leachate Treatment Facility which is in testing phase, and the Energy-from-Waste Plant in the final construction phase. The facilities within the Vinča Resource Recovery Center provides the City of Belgrade a modern way of waste management, instead of disposing of waste on the old unmanaged landfill, which will be remediated in the coming period.
Once all these facilities are put into operation, the amount of waste going to landfill will be reduced and sustainable waste management in compliance with EU best practices will be in place.
